At approximately 4:10 a.m., the CHI-1 facility experienced a utility 2 fault. Emergency generators are running.

It appears the medium-voltage ATS on utility 2 failed to transfer. The switch was manually cranked and closed, restoring power to the affected devices via generators. The site is presently in a stable condition. Several devices, including rack PDUs, were affected by the utility fault, and some servers are being manually powered on if they do not come up automatically after the outage.

Equinix CH1 has suffered multiple chiller plant failures at 350 E Cermak, Chicago. This failure has led to highly increased temperatures at Equinix. Due to these increased temperatures and at the recommendation of Equinix and its engineers, equipment located in this space has been shut down in order to avoid potential hardware failure. This has led to decreased bandwidth capacity across the United IX fabric and a complete outage for multiple clients at Equinix CH1.

Clients within our data center at 603 Discovery Dr, West Chicago, could experience disruptions with peering sessions to other providers that are located within Equinix CH1. They may also experience reduced bandwidth as we have lost transit from GTT and Comcast due to the aforementioned equipment shutdown.
